Wild Dagga
Top Quality, Spray Free Flower Petals and Leaves
Wild Dagga (Leonotis leonurus) also called Lion's tail is grown for its pretty orange flowers and is popular in landscaping in Southern California. When this plant is in flower, it provides quite a visual feast, and its delightful form and dazzling colour amazes everyone who sees it.
Petals are the desired part of the flower top.
Although the entire wild dagga plant is usable, the flower petals seem to produce very pleasant smoke and are slightly higher in concentration of the active ingredient.
Traditional Uses
Many traditional uses have been recorded. The foliage is commonly made into a medicinal tea, which is favored for the hypnotic focus it gives.
The leaves or roots are widely used as a remedy for snakebite and also to relieve other bites and stings. Extracts have been applied externally to treat boils, eczema, skin diseases and itching, and muscular cramps.
Extracts are also used to relieve coughs, cold and influenza, as well as bronchitis, high blood pressure and headaches. Leaf infusions have been used to treat asthma and viral hepatitis. This species is also important in Chinese/Vietnamese medicine as an euphoric, purgative and vermifuge.
Leonitis leonurus is also known as Lion's Tail or Wild Dagga. It is a member of the Mint family of plants that is used by the Hottentot tribesmen to promote euphoria and exuberance when smoked.
Active Component
The active component in Wild Dagga is leonurine, the same alkaloid that is mildly psychoactive in the similar Leonurus sibiricus (marihuanilla). It may be addictive on the order of nicotine with regular usage. Wild Dagga is 100% legal in New Zealand. It is all-natural and does not contain any controlled substances. Do not drive or operate machinery when under the influence of Wild Dagga.
Common Effects:
After a moderate dosage (3-4 grams, smoked) of leaf material users report a sort of "floaty" feeling, lightheadedness, giddiness, mild euphoria, and reduced stress. A much smaller dose of flower material is needed to achieve these same effects.
Higher doses (8 grams+) may cause effects such as mild auditory and/or visual hallucinations and increased euphoria.

Medicinal Uses
Leonotis has been used to treat various conditions including epilepsy, diabetes, bites and stings, skin diseases, muscular cramps, respiratory disorders, hypertension, headaches, viral hepatitis, intestinal worms, obesity and eczema.
In 1992, Wild Dagga was shown to reduce breast tumors in mice.
Our flowers are soft, orange flowers only, hand-picked, organic with no pods, and they are cheaper than anywhere else. Leonotis is commonly smoked in the same way as Cannabis. Users frequently report on the unpleasant taste and harshness of the smoke on the throat and lungs. This experience is less (or not at all) reported upon the smoking of the flowers! |
